This coachbuilt masterpiece, unveiled in an exclusive event near California’s Pebble Beach, transcended the boundaries of luxury and captivated the heart and soul of may of us enthusiast of meaningful luxury.

Unveiling a Dark Elegance

Imagine a place where dark meets captivating, where secrets blend with love stories. The Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail takes its inspiration from the Black Baccara rose, a soft and deep flower originating in France.

This captivating flower, beloved by the commissioning family’s mother, becomes the inspiration behind this coachbuilt masterpiece.

Its deep, pomegranate-colored petals appear almost black, but when reflected by light, a red, pearlescent effect graces the surface. These colors are what make the La Rose Noire Droptail so unique, each color telling its own story.

A Tale of Two Colors

The story unfolds with two distinctive shades – ‘True Love’ and ‘Mystery’. True Love, the lighter shade, captures the essence of romance that inspired the clients, while the darker Mystery tone pays homage to the enigmatic nature of the Black Baccara rose.

The exterior of La Rose Noire Droptail shines with its True Love red finish. Much like the Black Baccara rose’s chameleon nature, the car’s color shifts with each angle.

To make this happen, a paint process was meticulously developed, involving secret base coats and layers of clear lacquer blended with varying red tones.

The result? A mesmerizing color transformation that mirrors the flower’s magic.

The duotone theme isn’t limited to the exterior. Hydroshade, a new dark finish developed exclusively for this project, grace the cabin. Achieving this unique “liquid-like” darkness, involved co-depositing a special chrome electrolyte during the plating process, creating a unique depth.

A Symphony of Form

La Rose Noire Droptail reveals its “alter ego” with a removable hard top. Transforming from an open-top roadster to a dramatic coupé, this special feature showcases the motor car’s duality.

The low-slung roof, features an electrochromic glass section which allows the passengers to explore the skies even with the roof up.  This is the first time Rolls-Royce does something like this, making the roof even more special engraving the car’s name on it.

But detail is where La Rose Noire truly shines. From the Pantheon grille’s subtle accents to the air intake in the front, made from special materials and shaped just right, every inch is a testament to the clients’ passion for perfection.

Once in the interior, the car feels like a warm embrace, thanks to the special design of the wood on the walls. It’s like a puzzle made from over 1,600 pieces of wood, like fallen rose petals.

Timeless Elegance

The fascia houses a bespoke timepiece by Audemars Piguet, a mechanical beauty reflecting the car’s essence. Merging seamlessly into the design, it stands as a testament to the clients’ sophistication. Masterfully integrating the timepiece, Rolls-Royce created a powered clasp mechanism, allowing it to be worn as a wristwatch.

La Rose Noire Droptail’s celebration continues with a custom vintage of Champagne de Lossy, exclusive to the commissioning family. A Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest, a mirror of the car’s parquetry, holds this treasure. With a touch, the chest unveils a champagne set complete with hand-blown crystal flutes, a true tribute to luxury.
